Sports – Track and Field

In Track & Field action Thursday in sunny Etobicoke, 9 Danforth athletes qualified for Metros. Congrats go out especially to Hannah, Shafee, Jordan, Aaron and Nik, who all placed first in their events. Hannah and Jordan both achieved personal bests. Well done to all athletes who competed hard and did Danforth proud.

Performing Arts Showcase!!

Congratulations to all of the music and drama students who performed in last night’s really fun showcase. You performed with energy and commitment. A special thank you to our stage crew and emcees for their work. An extra big Thank You to everyone who came out to support the performers.

Sports – Coed Volleyball, Table Tennis and Boys Baseball

Congratulations goes out to the Coed Vballers on a great season. The team lost a tough semi final match to Lawrence Park yesterday but the future looks great .. Mrs. Kirk and Mr. Graul would like to thank the dedication and commitment the team gave over the season.. To all the support throughout the year by admin , staff and students , “A BIG SHOUT OUT” as well. Go Redhawks Go!!!!!
Your Danforth Table Tennis Team ended their season with a loss to Riverdale. Congratulations to all team members for making it to the Final Four in the city… and to Victor for going undefeated all year.
Danforth Hawks Baseball The Danforth Hawks Baseball Team evened their record to 2-2 with a gutsy effort against a very strong Forest Hill squad. Many Hawks stepped up into unfamiliar roles and showed a lot of resilience against formidable odds. Next game Tuesday May 23 vs Northern.

Local Summer School

Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute is proud to announce that we will again be running a local summer school program run by DCTI staff for the direct benefit of DCTI students.

This year’s program will include:

  • A non-credit literacy and numeracy program for grade 8 students entering grade 9 in September 2017.
  • A credit recovery program for students who have been unsuccessful in a grade 9 or 10 compulsory course.
  • A dual credit program for students 16 years of age and older offered in conjunction with George Brown College that will allow students to get a taste of college life. Students will earn a GWL3O credit along with an Introduction to Psychology course taught by a GBC Instructor.

Monitoring and Analyzing Pollution Seminar

Bring your lunch to room A76 on Wed. May 14 to meet two environmental chemists. Dr.’s Susan Wauru and Alex Tevlin will explain how they monitor and analyse air pollutants. They will also how they found them selves doing this research in Nova Scotia when one of them used to study IT in Kenya and the other one studied philosophy in Ottawa..

“Cram a Cruiser” Food Drive!

Good morning. All across Toronto there are families that do not have food to get through the day. Families and kids go to bed hungry. Toronto Police have teamed up with schools all across the GTA to help. Please bring a non-perishable food item to the office this week by Friday to support the Toronto Police food drive, “cram a cruiser.” Let’s show Danforth cares. thank-you. Girls Softball!

Yesterday, your Girls’ Softball team were in action at Dieppe Park against a tough Leaside squad. We needed a win to ensure a spot in the playoffs and your Redhawks did not disappoint! It was a back and forth game with lots of offensive punch! Key defensive plays late in the game were the difference as we won in a nail bitter 18-17! Special shoutout goes to all of the students, relatives, and especially Vice Principal Wires for coming out and supporting our team! Go Redhawks!
