Hey Danforth!! Just in case you didn’t hear the news, the Coed Volleyball team captured the South Championship this past Wednesday night earning them a chance to compete in the City Championships yesterday at Humber College. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a best of the best competition with teams from all across Toronto and the TDSB. Yesterday was a full day of fierce competition from some well known powerhouse volleyball programs with each division having their favoured team to win it all. Your Redhawks Volleyball team played extremely strong thoughout the day making it all the way to the finals againt Sir Oliver Mowat. Not only did the team win the final but after a long and very challenging day the team accomplished the unthinkable by remaining undefeated for the entire day taking every opponent in straight sets proving how very deserving they are to earn the title of City Champions. On Wednesday Manchester City booked their place in the 2013 Danforth Champions League Soccer final with a convincing 8 to 4 win over Real Madrid. Joseph Chekole led the way with 4 goals. Congratulations to the Danforth Girls Soccer team for their great game against Parkdale CI. We had many chances to score but Parkdale wanted the win just as much as we did! Congratulations to the Coed Volleyball team who defeated the top-ranked North Toronto CI to claim the South Region Championship last night. Our team dominated the first 2 sets but North Toronto fought back to win the 3rd set. The team would like to thank all those that came out to support them last night as well as throughout the season. Congratulations to the Coed Volleyball team who emerged victorious last night in semi-final action against Riverdale CI. Despite the home court advantage and loud support from Riverdale fans it was amazing to see the Danforth staff and students make the trip to show their support and cheer the team to victory. The team kept their composure and fought back after losing the second set going on to win 3 sets to 1. The discussion will address:
- Why adolescence is a critical (and potentially dangerous) time in development with respect to aggression and violence?
- It will describe and briefly explore a number of different kinds of aggression faced by youth in the community including: sexual harassment, bullying, dating aggression, relational aggression, cyber-bullying and more!
- We will look at some important gender differences (and similarities) in youth aggression.
- Audience questions and participation will be welcomed.
This event will take place in the school auditorium-800 Greenwood Ave.
There will be light refreshments at 6:30 & the presenter will begin at 7pm.
