Student’s Choice: Next Year’s Agenda

We have some wonderful submissions for next year’s agenda from Mr. Wilson and Ms. Neub’s art classes. Traditionally students would submit their artwork for selection by school staff. This year, we want to invite students to choose their agenda cover from four outstanding options.

Rethink the Box 2017

On Thursday May 11th a team of Grade 10 students from Ms Tevlin’s and Mr Weight’s Engineering Design classes participated in the first annual Rethink the Box Challenge where they had to enhance a human ability. The team wowed the judges with not only their design, but also their teamwork and communication skills. Well done Danforth. We are looking forward to defending our title at the competition next year.

We Scare Hunger!

Chequity’s initiative for October is We Scare Hunger.  Our goal is to collect one non-perishable food item per student.  In order to achieve this goal we will need your support.

Hunger is a daily reality for millions of people, even in your own backyard. This Halloween do something about it. Be a hero and help hunger disappear.

If you are interested in involving your classes in our food drive please notify either Mr. Coombs or Ms. Fludder as soon as possible.  We will supply you with a food collection box and a poster for your door that will identify your room as a food drop off location.

All the food will be collected on Wednesday, October 31st.

Here are a few facts to get you started on collecting donations:

  • In Canada, food bank use has gone up 20% in the last ten years.
  • 38% of people who use food banks are youth.
  • In March 2011, 851,014 Canadians sought help from a food bank—the second highest level of food bank use on record.
