Last night at the Sears Drama Festival awards night, Danforth won three awards.  Two students won awards; Call and Ruby won an award as well as the cast won an award.  Congratulations to all.  T. Neub

Sears Drama Festival Awards meeting today at Monarch Park CI!  This is a reminder to the Sears Drama Festival cast and crew of the awards celebration at Monarch Park CI tonight from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  There will be food and refreshments and the adjudicator will be there presenting awards to schools in our district.  T. Congratulations to Danforth’s DD Basketball team for winning gold at the Toronto Police Services Special Needs Basketball Tournament on Friday.  Special congratulations to Dylon Harker for winning the MVP award.  A fun day was had by all students who cheered the team on to a decisive victory!  Go Red Hawks!  H. Congratulations to Metro Science Fair winners!!  On Saturday 18 Danforth students spent the day at the very prestigious Metro Science Fair.  Frank Nguyne and Nabiha Tahsin got a silver and the “Environment Prize” for their energy generating shoes.  Max Musing and Evan Farrell got a gold for simulating evolving intelligence and they will go to the National Science Fair in Fredericton, New Brunswick!!  R. 2015 Youth Civic Leadership Awards

-application deadline: Friday, April 3, 2015

-students who are actively involved in their school and community and who have demonstrated outstanding leadership through activities and initiatives that create positive community impact are eligible to apply

-grade 10, 11 and 12 students may apply.  The award ranges from $500.00-$2000.00

54 Division Youth Scholarship Program

-application deadline: April 30, 2015

-students must have applied to a post-secondary institution for Sept. 2015, and proof of acceptance must be provided to receive the scholarship

-the program is aimed at providing some financial support for youth participating in school safety initiatives or volunteering in the community.  Students must demonstrate leadership in their high school and a commitment to the community.  The scholarship ranges from $500.00-$1000.00

March Break Campus Tours

All Universities hold campus tours over the March Break.  It is highly recommended that you visit the Universities which you have applied to.  Please visit the individual University websites and call the appropriate office to register for a tour.

Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Toronto Skills Competition on Wednesday.  The following students placed and received these medals:  Gold – Corey Boudreault – Culinary Arts; Rudy Cho – Graphic Design (also our poster winner); Tristan Carreau – Job Skill Demonstration; Junaid Bhikha – Auto Painting; Jordan Cardinelli – Auto Collision and Repair; Silver – Danisha Zaman – Photography; Matt Norris – Auto Painting; Mikayla Phillips – Baking; Nicholas St. Marie – Auto Collision and Repair; Bronze – Patricia Lee – Graphic Design; Claire Allin – Auto Collision and Repair; Aidan Cooper – Auto Service; Chris Chan – Culinary Arts; Mimmasha Basher – Auto Painting.  The gold medallists will be moving on to the Provincial level with the exception of those in the Qualifying Round at Humber College on April 8, 2015.  Way to go Danforth!!  C. A big thank you to Mr. Hill and all the staff who played against the Danforth team in the first staff verses students table tennis tournament yesterday.  There was a new trophy at stake and bragging rights.  At the end it was the students victorious.  Keep on practicing team!!  H. Kwan
