Announcements for Monday, June 9, 2014

Congratulations to John Reston who competed at the OFSAA Track & Field Championships on the weekend.  John competed in discus and javelin and achieved personal best in javelin with a throw of 43.75 meters.  Thanks to the entire Track & Field team on a successful season.  L. Morris-Pocock

Congratulations to Catherine Matthewson who took the silver medal at the Skills Canada National Championship last week.  It was a gruelling week but she represented Danforth very well.  It was a close competition.  C. Sutton

Thanks to all staff and students who volunteered with the Breakfast Club this year.  Tomorrow willbe the final morning but we will continue to offer juice and granola bars during exams.  C. Atkins

Danforth students were honoured at last nights Athletic Banquest.  Congratulations to all students and award winners; Racel Takacs, Denon Sheppard, and Kevin Lo.  A big thank you to all coachers and staff who attended.  Thank you to the Culinary Arts for a fantastic meal.  And finally thank you to the Phys Ed department for organizing the evening.  S. Announcements for Monday, June 2, 2014

Danforth’s Grade 12 Engineering students will be holding their trebuchet competition today at lunch.  They will be launching water balloons at their teacher, as well as dressing up in theatric costumes.  Come by and enjoy the entertainment located beside the north end parking lot.  Bring your change to purchase refreshments.  R. This spring the Track & Field team survived extreme cold and hot sun, all to represent Danforth!  Everyone ran, jumped and threw as best they could.  Four very talented athletes made it to the City Championships; Danielle Loucas, Joseph Chekole, Kelly Ng, and John Reston.  Congrats to the whole team on a wonderful season and goodluck to John Reston who is going on to the Ontario Championships – OFSAA – this week after placing 4th in Discus and earning a gold medal in Javelin.  Go Red Hawks!  From Mr. Jardeleza and Ms. Morris-Pocock

The Danforth Athletic Banquet is this Thursday from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. in our Cafeteria.  The dinner is catered by our Hospitality program.  Come and eat great food and celebrate your athletic accomplishments this year with your fellow team mates.  Tickets are $5.00 and are being sold until Tuesday in Room Y02 the Phys Ed office at lunch and after school.  Get your tickets ASAP.            R.
