Chequity’s initiative for October is We Scare Hunger. Our goal is to collect one non-perishable food item per student. In order to achieve this goal we will need your support.
Hunger is a daily reality for millions of people, even in your own backyard. This Halloween do something about it. Be a hero and help hunger disappear.
If you are interested in involving your classes in our food drive please notify either Mr. Coombs or Ms. Fludder as soon as possible. We will supply you with a food collection box and a poster for your door that will identify your room as a food drop off location.
All the food will be collected on Wednesday, October 31st.
Here are a few facts to get you started on collecting donations:
- In Canada, food bank use has gone up 20% in the last ten years.
- 38% of people who use food banks are youth.
- In March 2011, 851,014 Canadians sought help from a food bank—the second highest level of food bank use on record.
